Research Experience

Jan 2025 – Present

Center for Complex & Active Materials, UC Irvine

Mentor: Prof. Xiaoqing Pan – Developing an Uncertainty Quantifiaction Method in an exploratory study on ptychography applications and improvements to current algorithms.

Jun 2024 – Aug 2024

Center for Complex & Active Materials REU, UC Irvine

Mentor: Prof. Xiaoqing Pan – Applied image processing methods to refine electron microscope images in order to improve atomic-position determination and more precisely measure polarization in ferroelectric lattices. Also used image processing to refine charge density maps allowing for OOT fitting.

Oct 2023 – Present

Superconducting Magnet Program, LBNL

Mentor: Dr. Tengming Shen – Developed a low-level quench detection system using LabVIEW FPGA and integrated it into Superconducting Magnet testing facility. Currently working on magnet design and cable properties projects for BSSCO magnets. Investigating excessive Ag-Mg grain growth in Bi-2212 Rutherford cables during heat treatment.

Sep 2022 – Present

Nuclear Materials Group, UC Berkeley

Mentor: Prof. Peter Hosemann – Conducted SEM, EBSD & tensile tests on additively manufactured steel for mechanical property analysis. Collaborated on studies for radiation effects in future fusion materials. Evaluated the effects of irradiation on the mechanical properties of epoxies for superconducting magnets.

Mar 2023 – Mar 2024

Applied Nuclear Physics Program, LBNL

Mentor: Prof. Kai Vetter – Tested novel reconstruction algorithms for low-noise near-field imaging of medical radioactive sources. Implemented reconstruction using a Gaussian Process Prior to reconstruct medical phantoms imaged in a 3D space using coded aperture.

Summer 2025

TSMC – Epitaxy Process Engineering Intern

Performed large-scale data analysis to resolve epitaxial growth quality issues; implemented process modifications improving a key performance indicator by 35% leading to finalist status in the intern competition.
