Assisting in an exploratory study on ptychography applications and improvements to current algorithms. Developing novel ptychographic methods for STEM images allowing for effective reconstruction of small samples.

Superconducting Magnet Program

LBNL · Dr. Tengming Shen

Developed a low-level quench detection system using LabVIEW FPGA and integrated it into the Superconducting Magnet testing facility. Currently working on magnet design and cable properties projects for BSSCO magnets. Created a novel metrology system that beat state-of-the-art sensitivity by a factor of 1000.

Conducting advanced failure analysis and characterization on additively manufactured steel for mechanical property analysis. Studying radiation effects in future fusion materials and evaluating irradiation impacts on mechanical properties of epoxies for superconducting magnets.

Applied image processing methods to refine electron microscope images to improve atomic-position determination and measure polarization in ferroelectric lattices. Improved atomic precision by 100% and polarization map uniformity by 40%, enabling oxygen fitting for the first time in certain ferroelectric interfaces.

Tested novel reconstruction algorithms for low-noise near-field imaging of medical radioactive sources. Implemented reconstruction using Gaussian Process Prior to reconstruct medical phantoms imaged in 3D space using coded aperture.

Performed large-scale data analysis to resolve epitaxial growth quality issues. Conducted experiments using 50+ DOE conditions to optimize epitaxy processes for chip production.
